CHINATOWN PETALING STREET SAFE NOW AS DATUK JAMAL IS ARRESTED.

Police arrested Sept 16 red shirt rally organiser Datuk Jamal Yunos on Friday night. Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said Jamal was detained at the Ampang Jaya police station where he gave a statement to the police. "We arrested him under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code to prevent a crime from occurring over his alleged statements that riots would occur in Petaling Street," Zainuddin told The Star Online.

It is learnt that Jamal, the Sungei Besar Umno division chief, was detained at 9pm Friday and is being held at the Dang Wangi police station. Earlier in the day, Deputy IGP Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police would summon Jamal to Dang Wangi to record a statement over statements he made on Saturday's rally at Petaling Street.

Noor Rashid reportedly said police would not compromise with anybody trying to organise the rally and would take a firm action. Police have warned Jamal that he would be arrested if he was found culpable of instigating chaotic situations.

On Wednesday, Jamal told reporters that the rally could take place on Saturday if the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry failed to act on complaints of illegal traders. He, however, later said he would not be in Petaling Street on Saturday, saying he has nothing to do with rally. "I am not involved and I am not going to be in Petaling Street," he said.

Asked if he has information if protesters will gather in Petaling Street tomorrow, Jamal said he does not know. "I repeat, I am not involved in the rally, so I do not know if one is really going to take place tomorrow," he added. Jamal has said that he was present at the Sept 16 rally to counter the Bersih 4 rally "as a middleman."

"The police asked me to help with dispersing the crowd and that is all I did," he said adding that he did not organise the Sept 16 rally or the one to be held tomorrow. He claimed the media had "spun" facts about the rally against him. - ANN

Well, it’s about time they lock this ‘loose cannon’ for the sake of country’s safety against riot and destruction. Also, thanks to Dr. Huang who visited this street today and contributed his part in saving this place against threat of an impending racial riot. Syabas!! Well done, PDRM.

CHINA WARNS MALAYSIA AGAINST DISCRIMINATION AND RACIAL EXTREMISM

China is against those who resort to violence to disrupt public order, said the country's ambassador to Malaysia Dr Huang Huikang. "The Chinese government opposes terrorism and any form of discrimination against races and any form of extremism,” he told reporters during his visit to Petaling Street on Friday.

Dr Huang warned that Beijing would not fear voicing out against incidents which threaten the interests of the country, infringe upon the rights of its citizens in doing business, or disrupt the relationship between Malaysia and China.

During his visit, Dr Huang, his wife, along with other officials from the Chinese embassy presented traders with moon cakes in conjunction with the Mid Autumn Festival.

He was impressed that Malaysia's Chinatown was not run solely by the Chinese but also comprised of traders of various races. "Business is good here. There are many tourists. I am proud to see Chinese traders working closely with Malay and Indian traders in harmony in developing this area," he said.

He added that it would be sad if the peaceful environment was destroyed by those with questionable intentions, referring to the planned red-shirt rally on Saturday. Dr Huang said he was confident that the police would ensure public order.

On another note, he said the embassy was aware of the terrorist threat at Jalan Alor as well as travel advisories issued by the US and Australian embassies. "We will monitor the situation closely," Dr Huang added. – ANN

Dr. Huang had voiced out his concerns following the threat from Ultra Malays from the leading ruling coalition party, UMNO men Datuk Jamal where the news reported him as saying that he will be organizing another rally of at least 5000 people to this business area and the rally may even possibly turn into a riot.

RED SHIRT RALLY LEADER DATUK JAMAL WARNS OF A RACIAL RIOT COMING SATURDAY

The Red Shirt Leader, Mohd Jamal had urged the government to immediately resolve the non-Malay monopoly in Petaling Street and the sale of counterfeit products in the place which is also known as the Chinatown. He warned that the coming Saturday may end up in riot if the government failed to do anything about this issue. The Red Shirt Rally also known as ‘Himpunan Melayu Bersatu’ (Assembly of United Malays) who is mostly made up of Malays supporting the present ruling elite party, UMNO. They had a gathering on September 16 wearing Red T-Shirts to show support to the Prime Minister and to send the message to the organizers of Bersih 4.0 that the UMNO has strength too.

Image above: Jamal (second from left) smiling his way out. It appears as this man is enjoying all the attention he is getting from the medias lately, an attention for all the wrong reasons.

Jamal said that if the authorities do not take action, there’s a 99% chance of another rally on this Saturday and possibly might turn up into riot. He said that he had already met with the Chief Director of Enforcement (KPDNKK) and made his requests pertaining to the matter.

Jamal had earlier claimed that Petaling Street is monopolized by the Chinese and urged the area be shared with the Malay traders. Most of the Chinese traders there are not in favour of his request and suggested so that Jamal would seek from the authorities to open the space for the Malay traders to trade in a different location.

Previously, on September 16, Jamal’s group from the Red Rally had met the brunt of the FRU when they tried to enter this area during the rally. The Police only gave permit to gather for the Malay martial arts, PESAKA at Padang Merbok but these Red Shirts took matters into their own hands by going to prohibited places. The Red Shirts started calling the Police force Chinese lackeys ‘Barua Cina’ for not allowing them to enter. When they Reds started to throw bottles and cones at the Police, the FRU unit fired the water cannon seeing the Reds running helter skelter at all directions.

Coming Saturday apparently happens to be the third day of the Hari Raya Aidiladha, a day Muslims celebrate religious festival. The mayor has not approved the rally which is scheduled to be on Saturday.

What I don’t understand is that initially when the idea of Red Shirts started off; it was more to show the strength of the UMNO supporters. Now it seems to divert to Petaling Street. This street had for decades been a Chinese traders’ area and also a popular tourist centre. Why now the sudden focus in this area?

What really is the agenda of Jamal behind these claims? His focus seems to be shifting from business and now to creating a riot. Isn’t this a seditious claim by Jamal? Datuk Seri Khairuddin was detained today under SOSMA Act under section 124K and 124L where he could be detained without trial for up to 29 days. These acts are only enforced on a person who is deemed to sabotage the nation. How is Dato Jamal seen here? Isn’t he also doing something that is detrimental to the nation or is he going to walk around scott free to do the damages he so desires.

This Jamal fellow is like loose cannon. And loose cannons should not only be monitored, but the right action should be taken before the cannon bursts out and make irretrievable damages to the nation. I don’t think this fellow has the best interest in the nation and it is high time the authorities step on the pedal to do something about this loudmouth as there are only 2 days left for the D-Day.

WAS THE SEPT 16 RED SHIRT GATHERING TRULY A PEACEFUL SUPPORT FOR THE GOVT???

Recently, Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak reiterated that Umno was not a racist party and has never played the racial card. He stressed that the Sept 16 gathering was never about race but to show the strength of Umno. Like, Really? Wasn't there any traces of unruly behaviour among the Red Shirt protestors? Let us recap some of the incidents that took place...

He said “Umno is not just strong in rural areas but also in urban areas,” adding that the gathering was peaceful. Najib said that Umno respects the other races but would not accept if its leaders were insulted or the dignities of the Malays were threatened. “We believe in Barisan Nasional’s consensus of power sharing.

“We never asked shops to close or for Kuala Lumpur to be deserted on Sept 16.
“There were no posters to stoke racial tension on that day, no posters of a bloody keris or any incidents of people stomping the pictures of non-Malay leaders during the gathering,” he said, adding that it was a gathering to show support for the Government.

He said that there were many estimates about the crowd from 35,000 to 200,000.
“I am not sure. Maybe many thousands,” he said at the launch of the Muar Umno division headquarters here.
Najib also urged party members to refrain from attacking and finding fault with each other.
Citing an example, he said that people should not become those who korek kapal (puncture a ship) as this would lead to everyone sinking with the ship. “We should instead be a kapal korek (sand dredger) which is helpful as it helps remove sand in a river,” he said, referring to the allegations being levelled against him.

Najib reiterated that he understood the responsibilities of a leader and the struggles of the party.
He added that each leader would want to take the people and nation to a better place and not destroy everything which had been built. Each prime minister or Umno president, he said, always strived to make the country better. “Do not just harp on other people’s mistakes. “Previously street demonstrations were illegal but now you make appearances there. “Previously you said not to work with foreign correspondents clubs but now you are doing the opposite,”

Let's see for a moment:
Sept 16 was never about race card?
Image above: The banner about Malay dignity. Isn't this talking about a particular race? So what is then the 1Malaysia rhetoric campaign all about. You may as well make up your mind now whether it is 1Malaysia or 1raceinMalaysia.

Was the rally peaceful?
Video above has a story to tell about the 'peaceful' nature of the red rally supporters

Image above: Are these actions of FRU deployed here when the rally is filled with peace loving people?

There were no posters to stoke racial tension on that day?

Image above: A picture of opposition veteran Lim Kit Siang in red with the caption in yellow reminding 'Don't instigate Malay hatred like previous 13 Mei'. I see this more like intimidation and warning. So how is this action not translated as stoking racial tension? Lim Kit Siang did not play a pivotal role in Bersih. So why implicate his name.

Mr. Honorable Prime Minister Najib, kindly please consider the intelligence of the people you are addressing to. The whole nation had witnessed the incidents which was available by various sources but you are speaking something contrary to what had actually happened thus reducing the credibility of your claims. The people do not like to be lied on as much as you dislike people discrediting your views.
