NANAMMAL, 95 HONORED WITH INSPIRATIONAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR 2015 AWARD

Nanammal a householder, at age 95 is still going strong and healthy. She is a living testimony that yoga indeed maintains good health and longevity. She was recently honoured with the Inspirational Woman of the Year 2015 award by the Raindropss in Chennai, India. Raindropss is an Indian youth based social organization located in Chennai, South India that spreads social awareness messages to the public through theme songs and short films. The ceremony was held in conjunction with International Women’s Day.

Nanammal demonstrates some yogic postures to the cheering crowd. She starts with Pada Hasta Asanam, a posture that would give a firm and toned belly to the practitioner seen from picture above.

The posture above is good for preventing diabetes, Kala Asanam.

Nanammal attributes her good health to Hatha Yoga practice and her regulated eating habits. She is still active and teaching yoga at his age. In the photo below, she shows the gold medals and trophies won over the time in yoga competition.
She says that yoga was taught by her parents when she was little and has since continued practicing till this age. Drawing from her own experience, the mother of 5 children attests that during her early days when she was pregnant, childbirth was relatively easy. Today, her children and grandchildren also practice yoga. Until today, she has never been to hospital nor has she ever taken any medication for any sickness.
Nanammal seen in the photo above climbing stairs effortlessly to do her yoga asanas at the balcony of her house. Many people even half her age complain of knee pain when climbing stairs.
Her son, a yoga instructor, Balakrishnan claims that she can do 50 yoga postures and testifies that although she is aged now, she doesn’t have any blood pressure problems, diabetes or ever complained of any joint pain in her body.

Hatha Yoga can be practiced at your home. There is no need to enroll in any membership. One can even pick the yoga steps from a book but better if you have an instructor. There are so many hypes in yoga these days such as aerobic yoga, power yoga and the likes but Nanammal just practiced what was plainly taught in Hatha Yoga and has reaped the rewards of her practice. I hope that this post will also renew your interest in keeping up with your health and you would take some measures to see to it. Procrastinate is a step away from never, so if it strikes your mind to do something about it, don't delay, start doing something about it today.

FROM STONEHENGE TO WOODHENGE

How many of us would take our hobby or interest seriously enough? Well that’s not the case with Mr. Newman whose interest in archaeology and history motivated him to build a replica of Stonehenge using piles of unused timber wood. The structure was built from Monterey Pine tree that was felled and erected in a village at a plot of field that belonged to him.

Image above: Amazing view. A scenic view of the “woodhenge” during sunset located in Worth Matravers, Dorset.

The Construction process
The monument was built using 12 “plinths” where each weighed approximately 2.5 tonnes. They are topped with 8ft long sections of the trunk. All it took was 5 people including Mr. Newman and 12 hours to complete the job. Despite the sweat, but owing to his interest, he says that it was all fun building it.

Short lived joy
Standing proudly at 12 feet high and weighing 35 tonnes, the “monument” that Mr. Newman built had been ordered by the Purbeck District Council to bring it down by September 2015. The local residents who happen to admire his masterpiece however regard it as “fantastic” and “lovely”.

Image above: Mr. Charlie Newman, pub owner of Square and Compass stands proudly beside his creation.

I hope that the Purbeck District Council will change their mind about requesting Newman to tear this lovely construction down as it does not obstruct anyone. It could serve as iconic to boost local tourism. Perhaps the place could be further beautified by turning it into a park with flowers something like the Tulip garden. Local handicraft could also be sold there. Just my 2 cents worth of thought.

Update: August 15, 2015: The above is a video was recently made by Mr. Mark Rigler. Here is a more live close up view of the "woodhenge" and a little glimpse of the town where it belongs. Thanks Mark for sharing this video.

WALKING ON WATER - MAGICIAN DYNAMO (STEVEN FRYNE)

Anyone will be amazed when someone does a superhuman feat especially like walking on water. So, Dynamo magician took it upon himself to prove his capability to walk on water. And to prove his point, he chooses Thames River, London to do his “walk of fame”.

In the beginning, it all looked so cool and amazing to me as how he meticulously walked cautiously against each step that he took. Two kayaks were seen roving right behind him crossing the path he took behind him. Wow… no strings attached behind him.

He stands still for a while and does a Dynamo pose on the water with his two hands stretched apart looking like a very spiritual person. Hmmm…..

The amazed crowd looks on and most of them were already busy taking snapshots and videos of the River of Thames phenomena from across the bridge.

He continued to walk further down until he reached the middle of the river where boats could be seen passing with passengers waving towards him. Wow…. Amazing!!

He then raises his arm like seen Tom Cruise on Mission Impossible where the Police boat arrives to welcome him in their boat for a cruise without walking on water. It’s back to the authorities now. Hey, dude, haven’t you heard? No jay walking on the river of Thames.

As the boat marches onwards, it makes a U-turn heading back. This is when the boat knocks on something hard beneath the water and stopped the boat for a while. The loud banging sound could be heard meters away. LOL… Magic show busted!!

The last image may not seem obvious in the photo above, anyway, the footage below would tell some great detail:

Hunting for 'Lucky' Wild Boars

Ever heard of the phrase, "You Lucky Swine!"?
Well, that is exactly the case in this mystique earth episode of wild boars coming to an Indian temple in Taiping, Malaysia. While the world is plagued with the Swine Flu epidemic at least, there are some who are least concerned about this due to the anticipated benefits arising from contact with these wild boars.

While all over the world, the mere mention of the word "swine, wild boars or just pigs" would make one grip in fear or instant terror. That is not the case with the people who come to this temple called "Jada Muniswarar Temple". Strangely, people are flocking in to get an opportunity to actually touch the wild boars which they believe can bring them good luck. Most of them who come here are the ones who are hoping to strike rich after buying some lottery tickets upon touching the wild boars.

Still, there are other claims, say the temple priest, that people who come here with ailments have also found cure upon offering their prayers.

These wild boars come here daily for food. But, they come in bigger numbers in the evening about 7pm when temple bells ring. It is almost like they instinctively or trained to know that there is food being served there. Normally, wild boars being very shy animal shun the idea of being close to the presence of human beings. But again, the same does not apply here.

Some sceptics believe that these are wild boars that are trained to be tamed & is merely a gimmick. But, we wouldn't know that for sure as no one locals have yet to dismiss this as a gimmick. Currently, buses full of local tourists also make this a place to visit in their tour itinerary.

GETTING BENEATH THE HEAD OF MOAI STATUES IN EASTER ISLAND

The magnificent view of the full body of the Moai statues hidden beneath the earth in Easter Island tells a tale about the inhabitants of this island hundreds of years ago. No wonder it has earned its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Carved mostly from volcanic rocks by the Rapanui people, the intrinsic details on the body speaks of the carving skills and the artistic nature of these inhabitants. Made from one large rock weighing about 14 tonnes, it fetches a height between 2.5 – 10 metres. Although it is known that there are about 1000 Moai statues in this island, it is still unknown why, when or how it was made. It is a common belief that it was made to deify their ancestors.

Here are some images of the Moai statues during excavation project courtesy of Easter Island Statue Project:

The statue of Moai above somehow reminds me of the Batak statues in Samosir Island, Indonesia with their smaller sized counterpart as shown below.

Although the statues was believed to honour and deify their ancestry, I still feel that we should not rule out the possibility of the statues kept in these locations especially the ones facing the sea as a warning to pirates or would be enemies to stay away from infringing the island. The outlook of the statue from far would give the indication that there are giants living in this island and it would be better for them to stay out of this island.

A FREE GIFT FROM THE SPIRIT WORLD

Jejak Paranormal is a popular Ghost Hunting TV production in Indonesia. They go to places that are said to be haunted mostly at night equipped with their cameras. The Spiritualists who are endowed with paranormal abilities will interact with the supernatural forces at the site to determine the presence of supernatural forces. They have done shooting at many locations and often with suspenseful thriller especially when there are hostile beings.

Each segment will have a guests appearing who will participate along with the Spiritualists to prove the existence of supernatural beings. There are some guests who are so willing to allow themselves to be possessed. The Spiritualists will invoke the energy and transfer them to the guests. Then the entity takes over the body and speaks to the Spiritualists. Often, the common questions asked are “Why did you come here, what do you want or go away? Then, there are times that things get out of hand when the production crews themselves become possessed without the intervention and they start to behave erratically, defiant, questioning the crew’s motive in coming to the site, challenging, violent or even climb on top of trees.

Not all the times they are met with hostility. Sometimes, the entities will draw the spiritualist to a certain spot. These spiritualists are sensitive and they can where the energy is directing them to go. There are times that objects manifest from thin air. Sometimes the Spiritualists are drawn to a particular tree but most times there are manifestations that are drawn from the earth like the images that can be shown below.

1. The spiritualist invites a villager to participate in the drawing of material from another dimension

A teenage girl from this village volunteered to participate with the spiritualist to draw the material. The spiritualist, Ki Prana first sensitize the girl with energy and the ability to sense material. She was asked to pinpoint the exact location where she feels she is drawn. The girl points her finger and makes a 360 degree turning and start marching forward when she felt drawn to a spot. She then points to the ground where she says she feels drawn to this spot. The spiritualist then asked her to place her palm on the exact location where she feels it as can be seen in the first photo below.
As she places her hand, the spiritualist places his hand on her arm and asked her not to let go. She suddenly lets a scream and suddenly the grass catches fire but stops in about 3 seconds. (Image below)

The spot where the fire broke was dug out and the following jewel was found in the spot. (Image below)

2. The spiritualist does invocation prior to manifestation of jewel from the ground
In the series of four photographs below, the spiritualist does some invocation after drawn to the spot by entities. Some "Silat" movement (martial arts) can be seen and the grass catches fire. The spot where the fire sparked has a jewel stone said to have manifested from another dimension.

In the fourth photo below is shown the jewel was found in the spot that caught fire.

3. An Aladdin like lamp manifest from thin air
In the series of three photographs below, you can see an Aladdin like lamp was manifested from thin air without any invocation. The spiritualist was explaining what she felt in the bungalow until the manifestation episodes appeared. All happened in less than 5 seconds.

A spark of light appears (seen in photo below)

An Aladdin like lamp is manifested. (photo below)
The Spiritualist,  Ana Cikey decides to leave it behind and keep it back where she took it because she says that she does not want anything following her back. (photo below)

The narration above is based on what is depicted in the film productions and is not my own opinion.
